Job description

Laying and covering houses, buildings and structures with sheeting, shingles, insulation and sturdy waterproof
surfaces to ensure they are waterproof. Also includes assessment, identification and required works for reroofing or roof replacement and repairs.

SCOPE OF WORK:
Execute drawings/direction for new roof assembling and construction | Identifying and assessing requirements
for reroofing | Removal of existing roofing materials | Inspection and assessment of roof structure for any
damage or repairs needed | Installation of new roofing materials (such as shingles, tiles or metal panels and
alike) | Application of underlayment and flashing to ensure waterproofing | Ventilation installation or
improvement | Flash penetrations through roof/walls installing skylights, ventilators | Gutter installation or
repairs | Clean-up and disposal of debris.

Responsibility

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow direction carrying out roofing works in accordance with the Building Code Australia.
- Study, understand drawings, specifications and work sites to determine materials required.
- Risk assessment, safely and efficiently erecting and removing ladders, scaffolds and hoist equipment.
- Efficient layering and securing of waterproof sheets over eaves.
- Proficient nailing and stapling skills for all roofing materials.
- Correct securing and alignment of roofing starter rows with roofing materials such as staples, nails and
wiring along with successive layering of selected roofing product.
- Measure, resize, and cut roofing materials to fit various roof dimensions accurately.
- Effective application and technique with caulking and flashing materials to prevent leaks.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Physically fit, ability to move around scaffolding bending, kneeling, lifting and stand for long
periods of time.
- Contribute, maintain all records regarding site safety, regulation and alike.
- Maintain regular, clean, professional appearance of tooling and site equipment.
- Work with other employees to diagnose, problem solve and resolve job and site problems.
- Use and/or be willing to learn a variety of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and/or part of a team.
- Provide quality customer service, assistance to customers, on-site visitors.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-
job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed
above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in
addition to the formal qualification.
- Registration or licensing may be required.
